All data sets are on sites listed below and in the public domain, inclusive of numerous economic development networking groups and their affiliations.
May I ask for your assistance with these questions:
- in looking at some preliminary data (source, IWD), a civilian labor force high mark
is seen in year 1996 for Henry County, that being 11,360. unemployment 390 or 3.4%.
October, 2009 civilian labor force of 10,270 – unemployment 840 or 8.2%.
Employed year 1996 (10,970) to employed Oct 2009 (9430) would be a shift of around -14%
County population. slight decline over this period.
Projection uncertain. static to lower.
We are seeking to better understand the impact of the downward trend of civilian
population and its lower employed and employable labor force upon our county.
- Also, to better understand this in context to our southeast Iowa region and its unique laborshed characteristics, i.e. defined labor computes to and from Henry County, and the respective upward or downward trends in civilian labor forces – present to historical high mark year(s).
And with use of various socio-economic data overlays, to better understand impacts upon local and regional economies and economic development.
Other overlays to be added.
