CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – MyEntre.Net, Iowa’s online community for Iowa entrepreneurs and small business, has announced the launch of the new ‘Dream Big Grow Here’ contest for entrepreneurs and small businesses in Iowa. Starting in June, businesses statewide can compete monthly to win $1,000 to help bring their business concept to reality or help their business to grow here in Iowa.

MOUNT PLEASANT IOWA — Thursday afternoon's glad-handing at the Howe Student Activity Center was a community's business version of victory as Mount Pleasant officially welcomed Biomedical Synergies to its friendly borders. The goal of bringing 87 jobs to the city in the next five years was received with open arms.

Iowa Business Council Releases First Quarter Results
DES MOINES, IOWA – (March 1, 2010) Increased levels in sales, capital spending, and employment projected for the coming six months has moved the 2010Q1 Iowa Business Council (IBC) Overall Economic Outlook Survey Index (OSI) to 54.3 – its first time in positive sentiment territory since the third quarter of 2008 (six quarters ago). The Overall OSI is more than six points higher than three months ago (47.7), and 19 points higher from one year ago (35.3). The survey was completed by the 20 corporate members of the Iowa Business Council during the second half of February, the results of which were released today.

Many dug out of snow drifts and bundled up due to temperatures well below zero on Saturday to attend the Tri-State Jobs & Economic Development Forum in St. Louis hosted by USDA Rural Development (RD) and Farm Service Agency (FSA) of Illinois, Iowa and Missouri. Try Googling “Southern studies” and see what pops up. From the University of Virginia to Ole Miss, it seems that every school in Dixie has a curriculum devoted to the South — its history, economy, culture, triumphs and grievances.
Now try Googling “Midwestern studies.” Don’t worry, it won’t take long. A couple of societies exist to promote Midwestern literature. A college or two teach Native American history in the region. And that’s all.
